Bookkeeper (Hybrid)

We're looking for a detail-oriented, experienced Bookkeeper to join our client's team in Welwyn Garden City.

Our client is being very flexible regarding hours and working from home. Ideally, they need someone in the office 2 days per week.

This is a key role where you'll own the daily finances and keep everything running smoothly. You must be an expert with Xero and ready to handle all the basics: paying bills, invoicing, bank checks, and filing VAT.

If you are highly accurate, keep super-tidy records, and can give the team the quick, clear financial numbers they need to make smart decisions, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

* Maintain accurate and complete financial records exclusively using the Xero accounting platform.

* Process all supplier invoices, record employee expenses, and manage all incoming and outgoing payments efficiently.

* Manage the full invoicing cycle and actively follow up on overdue customer balances and old debt.

* Maintain and process monthly spreadsheets related to the bought ledger to track supplier liabilities.

* Conduct prompt and precise reconciliation of all company bank statements and credit card accounts.

* Prepare and deliver comprehensive monthly financial reports (P&L and Balance Sheet) for management review.

* Prepare and compile all necessary documentation to support the accurate filing of quarterly or annual VAT returns.

* Assist with internal budget tracking, year-end procedures, and compile documentation for internal and external audits.

* Complete and submit the detailed monthly payroll spreadsheet to the external outsourced payroll provider.

The successful candidate will have:

* Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.

* MUST have at least 2 years’ experience of Xero Accounting Software

* Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting.

* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets for data manipulation and ledger input.

* Excellent communication skills, particularly for chasing outstanding debts professionally.
