About Blue Forest
Blue Forest is a conservation finance non-profit organization established in 2015. The organization focuses on ecosystem restoration through scientific research, financial innovation, and collaboration with partners to drive impactful conservation efforts. Their flagship product, the Forest Resilience Bond (FRB), aims to finance forest restoration to prevent catastrophic wildfires. In addition to this, Blue Forest has launched Blue Forest Asset Management (BFAM), which connects investors with private equity and private credit investment opportunities aligned with conservation goals.
BFAM’s initial fund, the California Wildfire Innovation Fund, supports projects in the forest restoration and wildfire mitigation sectors. Blue Forest’s interdisciplinary team is dedicated to accelerating ecological restoration and enabling climate resilience for ecosystems and communities.
We are seeking a dynamic Investment Associate to join the Blue Forest Asset Management team. The Investment Associate will have the opportunity to support investment transactions, portfolio management, and new fund development. This role demands meticulous attention to detail and excellent analytical abilities, alongside the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Tasks include market research, financial modeling, and both qualitative and quantitative analysis to support private market investments, asset management, and impact investor reporting.
Goals for this position include evaluating investment opportunities for BFAM and contributing to its growth as a specialist investment platform.
- Perform detailed financial analysis of investment opportunities, including building and maintaining financial models in Microsoft Excel.
- Screen potential investments, write analytical memos, and present findings to the Investment Committee.
- Plan and lead investment due diligence, including market research and financial due diligence.
- Coordinate Blue Forest’s impact strategy for its investments, including impact quantification efforts.
- Monitor covenants and operational elements of deals and build financial models for portfolio management.
- Support investor reports and participate in new fund development and capital raising processes.
- Enhance BFAM Investment team policies, procedures, and playbooks.
- Execute business processes, create tracking systems, and manage funds and investments.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in investments or financial analysis.
- Experience in private equity, private credit, venture capital, structured or project finance, or forestry and natural-resource sectors.
- Robust financial modeling and Excel skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exposure to fixed-income investments and/or forestry and climate finance is a plus.
