The role will involve leading a small, dependent finance team and ensuring the smooth running of core accounting activities across the group, enabling the Financial Leadership Team to focus on structure, controls, and wider team development. This role would suit someone comfortable operating within a group environment with a turnover in the region of £30m, who enjoys combining technical accounting with people leadership.
This role is to start immediately and will be initially on a 3-6-month contract basis. This position is to be situated on-site for 5 days, but there is some flexibility for 1-2 days working from home once settled in post. Key Responsibilities Management Accounting & Group Reporting
- Preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts for multiple entities
- Consolidation of group management accounts and intercompany reconciliations
- Support with budgets, forecasts, and cashflow reporting at both entity and group level
- Maintenance of balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
- Oversight of day-to-day transactional finance activities across the group
- Ensuring accurate posting, coding, and compliance with group accounting policies
- Monitoring cashflow, working capital, and intercompany positions
- Supporting year-end processes and liaising with external accountants and auditors
- Support with day-to-day management and development of a small finance team
- Acting as first point of escalation for finance-related queries
- Coaching and mentoring team members to build capability and resilience
- Driving consistency and best practice across group finance processes
- Reviewing and improving existing finance processes and reporting structures
- Supporting system improvements and workflow efficiencies
- Assisting the Financial Leadership Team in strengthening controls, governance, and reporting frameworks
- Proven experience in a Management Accountant role within industry
- Experience working within a group of companies with turnover circa £30m
- Strong hands-on knowledge of month-end, management reporting, and finance operations
- Experience leading or supervising a small finance team
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems
- Ability to manage deadlines across multiple entities
- Part-qualified or qualified (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
- Experience in a growing or evolving business
- Exposure to consolidations, intercompany accounting, or multi-entity reporting
- Hands-on, practical, and detail-focused
- Confident people manager with a supportive leadership style
- Comfortable taking ownership of the day-to-day finance function
- Adaptable and solutions-driven
