About this job

Our excellent client local to Stroud is currently looking for a Management Accountant to join their friendly team on a permanent basis as they experience growth.

The company provides regular and monthly accounting, payroll, and tax services to a variety of clients from small sole traders through to large international companies- with this role mainly supporting the latter.

Hours:

Monday - Friday Full or part time available and flexibility on start/finish times Salary: £27,000 - £35,000 per annum (very negotiable depending on experience) benefits including;

  • BUPA Healthcare (private medical insurance) - 28 days holiday (increasing by 1 day per year)
  • Opportunity to progress up to board/director level if desired
  • Regular pay reviews and wider bonus opportunities
  • Flexibility on hours
  • Potential support to achieve finance qualifications
  • Company pension
  • Free parking available locally
  • Exciting new opportunity for a long-established, highly respected accountancy practice based near Stroud.

This is a friendly, close-knit team where you’ll be supported by the Directors and your colleagues, while having the autonomy to develop your skills, manage your own clients and take ownership of projects.

The Director also operates additional businesses that you can get involved with if you’re keen to broaden your experience but absolutely no pressure if you’d prefer to stay focused on core practice work.

As you grow, the Director is more than happy to hand over project responsibilities (with pay increases to match), and longer-term progression right up to Director/board level is very much on the table for those who want it.

The practice is committed to rewarding people properly for their contribution.

You can expect fair, regular pay reviews, long term bonus opportunities and genuine investment in your development, including support for further finance qualifications.

The team primarily works from the office to maintain strong collaboration, especially in a small practice environment.

However, once you’re settled and confident in your role, there is scope for occasional work-from-home flexibility where it makes sense.

Benefits include free parking, flexible hours, BUPA, 28 days’ holiday (rising by one day per year to 31), and clear pathways to progression- whether that’s stepping into wider business projects or working towards Director level.

Both full-time and part-time applicants will be considered.

Responsibilities:

Preparation of ongoing monthly and quarterly management accounts for clients, including variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, KPIs, and cashflow reporting.

Preparation of draft year-end statutory accounts (non-audit) for review, including all reconciliations.

Corporate tax support, including preparing corporation tax computations and assisting with CT600 filings.

Preparation and review of VAT returns.

Review of management and statutory accounts, ensuring accuracy and UK compliance.

Providing technical accounting support to colleagues and internal contacts.

Regular communication with clients via email, telephone, and occasional site visits, ensuring strong ongoing relationships.

Project assistance in-office, and ad hoc supporting work including preparation of traditional accounts (ie incomplete records/"box" jobs). Key Attributes:

Previous management accounts or bookkeeping experience

Friendly, team player

Computer literate with good Excel skills
