Overview
As a Post-Award Finance Manager you will have a hands-on approach, playing a key role in monitoring and reporting on the financial impact of research activity, including regular monitoring and highlighting of risk areas, enhancing and developing reporting systems, working with the Colleges and the Research Office to ensure maximum service is provided to those developing and carrying out research for the University.
Reporting to a Finance Business Partner you will work closely with key stakeholders and colleagues in the wider Finance Team.
Responsibilities- Direct line-management of the Post-Award Research Finance team
- Working with the Research Office and others to enhance research award processes, facilitating smooth transfer of work to the team
- Development of monitoring and audit work to ensure compliance with funder requirements
- Development and production of reports to identify financial progress on projects and assess risk
- Maintenance of knowledge of changing funder guidance, and dissemination across team and Research Office
We are seeking a financially proficient colleague with knowledge of research pre- and post-award funder requirements and an interest in collaborating with others to develop and improve systems across several disciplines.
You will have:
- an appropriate accounting qualification (AAT or above) or be able to demonstrate significant experience operating at this level in Research Finance
- strong analytical skills and an ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial experts
- strong leadership and team management abilities to inspire and develop your team

This post is available on a job share basis for applicants wishing to work part time. This role is campus based for at least 3 days per week, with the opportunity to work from home on the remaining days.
