Hawks Crane Hire Ltd, established in 2014, work from a newly refurbished luxury office near Longfield, Dartford. The company’s hire fleet consists of twenty-three cranes which work nationwide. It also provides in-house and 3rd party accredited training through its training division. Current turnover is £7m+, with 35x weekly paid PAYE and subcontractors and 6x PAYE monthly paid staff.

UpRate Digital Ltd is a new startup technology platform working from the same office. UpRate’s platform supports plant hire operations primarily in the mobile crane hire sector but with plans to enter the wider plant hire industry. Current turnover is £100,000 with 4x PAYE monthly staff.

Being a family company, it has a strong team ethos across the businesses. The CEO supports a culture of collaboration with an expectation that each employee adopts and utilises the latest technology available in their given role. Training and technology adoption is heavily supported and actively promoted within the company.

The company has a requirement for a Financial Controller, the successful candidate must be qualified in either of ACCA/CIMA, and have experience in the Xero accountancy package. The candidate must have at least 5+ years’ experience in an accountancy role.

Currently the company secretary undertakes the payroll and invoicing duties but when the company secretary is on annual leave, this role would be expected to cover those duties on an interim basis. The company secretary also processes receipts from the various sales and operational personnel.

• Overall control and responsibility for the accounting function within the company.
• The primary user/administrator of the accountancy package.
• Duties include Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Credit Control, and General Ledger.
• Control of the bank accounts and payment set‑ups.
• Managing the company’s various GBP & Euro bank accounts.
• Monthly VAT, PAYE & CIS returns.
• Month End supplier payments.

• Strong Excel and Xero software understanding and knowledge.
• A reliable, honest & trustworthy character.
• At least 5+ Years’ experience in a similar accountancy role.
• Good numerical, analytical and literacy skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication Skills.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills.
• Strong adoption for the latest technology
• Discreet and tactful when dealing with confidential information.
• CIMA or ACCA qualified/part-qualified accountant.

• £55,000 salary based on a 5x days a week, 8x hours a day.

• The role is based full time from the office but some 1 or 2 days remote working would be a possibility.
