Our client, a well‑established and respected organization in the travel industry, is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support their team on a temporary basis. This opportunity is ideal for a detail‑oriented professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is comfortable managing complex payroll activities with accuracy and discretion.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the full biweekly payroll process for hourly and salaried employees, guaranteeing accuracy and timeliness.
  • Oversee compliance controls for each payroll cycle, including reconciliations and the submission of all mandatory payments and declarations.
  • Complete the full annual payroll cycle, including year‑end closing, tax filings, and government reporting requirements.
  • Perform reconciliation of payments and monitor deficits related to the Review of Insurable and Pensionable Earnings (RIPE).
  • Process payroll, manage employee benefits and pension plans, and prepare reports for third‑party organizations.
  • Generate required reports (GL, reports related to the Workers’ Compensation Board, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with provincial regulations and organizational standards.
  • Provide guidance and support on all payroll‑related inquiries.
  • Work with external auditors during interim and annual payroll audits.
  • Contribute to updating and documenting payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimization and system enhancements.
  • Respond to employee questions and requests from Service Canada.
  • Manage confidential information with strict professionalism and discretion.
  • Perform any other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation.
  • Payroll certification (PCP or CPM) — a significant asset.
  • Experience with payroll platforms such as Dayforce or Ceridian.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to create customized reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to take initiative to improve processes and solve problems.
  • Capable of working under pressure, managing multiple priorities, and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate actively with the team.
