Junior Investment & Reporting analyst (12 month fixed-term contract)

£35,921 to £42,259 plus:

  • Up to 6% annual bonus

This is a hybrid role (3 days in the office, 2 days working from home).

About the role

We’re offering a 12 month fixed‑term contract opportunity to join our East region Planning & Performance team. This role plays a key part in supporting how we plan, optimise and deliver our investment portfolio. You’ll help ensure our investment plans are built on accurate data, aligned with National Gas’s strategic objectives, and meet our financial and regulatory commitments. It’s a fantastic entry point into the world of investment portfolio management, with a clear route into central, regional, or major programme investment roles.

What you’ll be doing
  • Updating and maintaining datasets used to develop, optimise and deliver investment plans
  • Working closely with Investment Planners to ensure portfolio data is accurate, complete and well‑managed
  • Clearing escalated blockers and celebrating team successes, sharing best practice and supporting continuous improvement
  • Gathering, analysing and managing information on network outages, resources, capital forecasts, expenditure and work programmes
  • Providing administrative and coordination support to the team
  • Partnering with Investment Engineers to collect essential information and shape investment project proposals
  • Checking that all investments are accurately recorded and that performance reporting offers a clear, consistent view
  • Collaborating with finance, other regions, major programmes and regulation teams to align datasets and support decision‑making
  • Creating presentation materials on portfolio performance, risks and recommendations for key stakeholders

You’ll bring a strong eye for detail, great analytical thinking and a real interest in how investment decisions shape our network. You’ll enjoy working collaboratively, managing data confidently and supporting others across the business. Key requirements & experience Essential
  • Good numerical and analytical ability
  • Experience in data management and data analysis
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, systems and data entry
  • Good communication skills and experience working collaboratively
  • Project coordination experience
Desirable
  • Qualification in a STEM subject (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience supporting a business function
  • Programme management or project planning knowledge
