Position: Part-Time Regional Accountant 20hrs per week)

Immersive Technologies are a world leader in the rapidly growing area of training simulators and have revolutionised the way the global Mining Industry now trains its operators, with customers experiencing colossal improvements in their productivity, reduced reactive maintenance and safety.

Reporting to the Group Accountant, a unique opportunity exists for a dynamic and talented individual to fill the role of Regional Accountant as part of the Corporate Services Division.


Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial and Tax Accountant to join our team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company's tax and statutory compliance as well as month-end reporting and reconciliations. This role requires a deep understanding of South African tax laws and regulations, International Financial Reporting Standard for Small and Medium-sized Entities (IFRS for SME) as well as the ability to provide strategic tax and accounting advice to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting:
    • End of Month reporting – Maintain and reconcile General Ledger accounts.
    • Prepare disclosures to ensure compliance with IFRS and other Accounting Standards.
    • Assist External Accountant with Independent Review and preparation of Annual Financial Statements.
    • Prepare income tax provisions and deferred tax calculations.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information.
  • Tax Compliance:
    • Prepare and file Income Tax returns, Provisional Tax returns, VAT returns, Dividend Tax returns, and other statutory tax filings.
    • Ensure compliance with all South African Revenue Service (SARS) regulations.
    • Manage tax audits and disputes with SARS.
  • Payroll
    • Review and approve payroll
    • Lodgement of all related payroll taxes
    • Ensure full compliance with all payroll requirements and applicable labour legislation
  • Tax Planning and Advisory:
    • Develop and implement tax-saving strategies.
    • Provide tax advice on business transactions and new ventures.
    • Conduct tax research and stay updated with changes in tax laws and regulations.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify and mitigate tax and accounting risks.
    • Maintain proper documentation and records for all tax-related activities.
  • Commercial Management Responsibilities:
    • Collaborate closely with the head office commercial team, business development professionals, and customers to negotiate commercial terms and conditions for contracts.
    • Develop and recommend practical solutions to reconcile differences between Immersive's preferred contractual terms and conditions and those proposed by customers, suppliers, and other stakeholder

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Professional certification as a Tax Practitioner (SA) and Chartered/ Professional Accountant (SAIPA or SAICA).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and tax related roles.
    • Proven experience in preparing and filing various tax returns.
    • Experience in handling tax audits and disputes.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of South African tax laws and regulations as well as International Financial Reporting Standards.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Registration:
    • Registration with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) as a tax practitioner.
