this Role

The opportunity at TREC/Tapestry Community Capital offers an exciting role for a seasoned Fund Manager to lead the launch and ongoing growth of an innovative impact investment fund. The position involves a pivotal role in capital raising efforts, managing investor relations, and overseeing capital deployment across diverse investment opportunities. With a focus on scaling impact investment to benefit Canadian communities, this leadership role requires strategic governance and financial expertise, working closely with various stakeholders.

As the Fund Manager, you will spearhead efforts to bring a new model of investment capital to market, fostering financial resilience among mission-driven organizations across Canada. Your responsibilities will include engaging with a network of investors and investees while ensuring the fund’s strategic alignment with its impact goals. This role suits a driven professional passionate about leveraging investment for community-led change.

Responsibilities
  • Lead fundraising strategy and execution with institutional and accredited investors.
  • Build and manage relationships with current and prospective investors.
  • Represent the fund in investor meetings, presentations, and due diligence processes.
  • Oversee preparation of fundraising materials, including pitch decks and investor updates.
  • Maintain a disciplined fundraising pipeline and manage timelines.
  • Communicate transparently with investors about fund performance and risks.
  • Oversee financial management and portfolio risk across diversified investments.
  • Lead investment assessment and recommendations to the Investment Committee.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and ensure timely financial reporting.
  • Work closely with the Board and Investment Committee to ensure proper governance.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and fiduciary requirements.
Requirements
  • Proven track record of raising capital and managing investor relationships.
  • Experience managing or advising investment funds or portfolios with a social or environmental impact focus.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in fund management, investment management, or a similar field.
  • Preferred qualifications such as CFA (Level II or higher), CPA, or equivalent.
  • Comfort working in French.
  • Experience in affordable housing, renewable energy, or social-purpose real estate.
  • Familiarity with Canada’s impact investing industry.
  • Strong communication and strategic thinking skills.
