About the RoleWe are an ambitious organisation focused on delivering the best services for people in Wolverhampton. We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer within the Strategic Finance service and the Service Accounting teams. Applicants with experience of local government financial management services supporting directorates will have an advantage.
About YouAs a Finance Officer you will be reporting to a Finance Manager.
Responsibilities- Support all aspects of accounting and budgeting.
- Provide full range of annual financial cycle activities, including budget holder meetings for monitoring/forecasting, budget setting and final accounts.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing; work accurately to conflicting deadlines.
- Work with little supervision and direction, using initiative within delegated authority.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships, work effectively as part of a team, work under pressure when required.
- Experience of capital projects, grant funding and statutory accounts (desired).
- Fully AAT qualified (Level
4) and/or hold a relevant degree or equivalent level 4 or higher accounting/finance related qualification. - Substantial post‑qualification relevant financial management experience supporting accounting and budgeting.
- Public sector experience desirable.
- Excellent IT skills, especially Excel functions; experience of utilising finance systems and supporting development of reporting tools.
