In this role, you’ll work with international teams, will be supported by AI-driven workflows and automation tools while contributing to meaningful business outcomes.

Location: South Africa (Remote)
Salary: R20,000 – R50,000 per month (depending on experience)

We partner with fast-growing companies in the United States and Europe to support their finance operations, embedding highly skilled Finance and Operations specialists and supporting those with a centralized AI-enabled approach to improve workflows, tooling, and process outcomes.
About the RoleWe’re developing a new approach to finance operations.
This is not a traditional accounting-only role. It is not a bookkeeping-only position. It is not a strategic finance advisory role.
This role sits within modern finance operations, where billing, revenue tracking, reporting, automation, and process ownership come together.
You will be employed through Project Y as the Employer of Record and work remotely with selected international companies (primarily in the US and Europe), supporting their day-to-day finance operations.
You will receive on-the-job exposure to AI-enabled tools and workflow automation used in finance operations.
This is an opportunity to gain experience operating in global finance environments while developing operational and technology-enabled finance skills.
This pilot role gives you exposure to finance workflow automation, global finance operations, and structured operating playbooks, with clear growth paths toward Finance Operations Lead, automation-focused finance roles, or revenue operations support roles.
Responsibilities:Revenue & Billing OperationsSupport billing workflows across platforms (Stripe, Chargebee, Paddle, etc.)
Handle subscription updates and billing cases
Assist with failed payment recovery and follow-ups
Track revenue and maintain billing data
Support billing-related customer or internal queries
Prepare weekly revenue and cash snapshots
Maintain AR/AP tracking
Support monthly reporting packs for leadership
Ensure data accuracy across finance systems
Process invoices, reconciliations, and expense tracking
Maintain accurate financial records for accountant handover
Support multi-entity finance environments where required
Follow structured SOPs and workflows
Support improvements to finance workflows
Assist in implementing automation tools (Zapier, Make, OCR, etc.)
Help reduce manual processes
Contribute to documentation and process optimization
3–6 years in finance, accounting, finance operations, or similar roles
Understanding of reconciliations, reporting, and finance admin
Excel / Google Sheets capability
Exposure to ERP or accounting tools (Xero, Net Suite, SAP, Quick Books, Oracle, etc.)
Comfortable learning new tools and systems
Interest in automation and technology-enabled workflows
Detail-oriented and process-driven
Adaptable and open to learning
Comfortable working in structured environments
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proactive and ownership-focused
Motivated by developing skills in finance operations
