Finance & Performance Officer

This role supports safe, effective, and financially sustainable services for children and young people. CYPTS currently enables over 6,000 children and young people to access education through essential travel support. You will act as deputy to the Operational Finance & Performance Manager, leading on budget monitoring, forecasting, KPI analysis and performance reporting. You will be the main contact for finance queries and manage key areas such as Personal Transport Budgets, contributions, inter‑authority recharges and end‑to‑end invoicing.

You will also drive service improvement and enhance automation using Excel, CRM systems and Power BI, while upholding high standards in customer service and information governance. This is a fast‑paced, varied role suited to a confident analyst with strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Advanced Excel functionality.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget monitoring, forecasting, variance analysis and producing high‑quality financial reports.
  • Sound understanding of management accounting, planning, budgeting and performance monitoring.
  • Experience providing financial advice to senior officers and supporting decision‑making.
  • Ability to interpret complex numerical data, identify issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities and perform under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to prepare and present professional business documents and reports.
  • A track record of identifying opportunities for cost savings, income generation and process improvement.
  • Ability to support cultural change, demonstrating innovation, adaptability and resilience.
