Finance Officer

MCS Group are currently seeking a detail-oriented Finance Officer to join a respected public sector organisation on a 3-month temporary contract.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a large public sector finance function, supporting key financial processes and providing essential support to budget holders and managers.

Key Responsibilities:

Assisting with budget and financial planning discussions Supporting the preparation of management accounts and financial reports Responding to finance queries from managers and non-finance colleagues Supporting budget monitoring, forecasting, and variance analysis Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation Assisting with general finance and accounting administration

Essential Criteria :
Previous experience in a finance or accounts-based role Confidence with accounting principles and ideally experience with management accounts Strong numerical and analytical skills Good IT skills, including Excel and finance systems Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders Strong organisational skills and attention to detail What's on
