Furzedown Project - Finance Manager

Overview

The Furzedown Project provides older people with opportunities to connect, contribute and be active – tackling isolation and improving well-being. We are a charity led by our members and offer a vibrant activity and friendship hub for older people.

1-2 days a month (an additional few days to prepare the financial statements and answers queries from the independent examination at year end)

Hybrid – mostly working from home – will need to come to the office 0.5 days to discuss queries with the director.

Required
:

• Bookkeeping – preparing management accounts from bank statements and other source data; and
• Data set manipulation and summarisation in excel.

Preferred but not required
:

• Charity bookkeeping; and
• Sage software.

• Conscientious;
• Good at managing deadlines; and
• Approachable.

Monthly

• Analyse and post to Sage:
  • Bank transactions;
  • Sum up transactions;
  • Petty cash transactions;
  • Weekly cash takings transactions;
  • Prepaid and accrued expenses;
  • Accrued and deferred income; and
  • Payroll reallocations.
• Discuss any queries with the Director;
• Discuss and prepare the forecast for the full year estimate to include in the management accounts;
  Prepare management accounts using template;
• Prepare commentary for the management accounts report with the Treasurer; and
• Provide financial information to support Grant applications.

Annual

• Prepare the financial statements at year end;
• Prepare the evidence for the independent certification;
• File the financial statement at companies house and the charities commission; and
• File the annual return at companies house.
