About the RoleAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Mortgage Underwriter to join an established lending team based in Loughborough. Working as part of a supportive and collaborative team consisting of Senior Underwriters, Underwriters and Administrative Support colleagues, you will play a key role in assessing mortgage applications and delivering excellent service to brokers and customers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong underwriting experience who enjoys working in a customer-focused environment and wants to be part of a respected and growing organisation.

- Working hours between 8:00am - 5:00pm

- Supportive and collaborative team environment
- Assess and underwrite mortgage applications in line with lending policy and regulatory requirements
- Review customer income, expenditure, credit profiles and supporting documentation
- Make informed lending decisions within delegated authority levels
- Liaise with mortgage brokers, solicitors and internal departments to progress applications efficiently
- Provide excellent service and clear communication throughout the underwriting process
- Support Senior Underwriters where required on more complex lending cases
- Ensure all work complies with FCA regulations and internal risk controls
- Maintain accurate records and case notes
- Previous mortgage underwriting experience
- Strong knowledge of mortgage lending criteria and regulations
- Excellent attention to detail and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and organisational abilities
- The ability to manage workloads effectively in a fast-paced environment
- A team-focused approach with a positive and professional attitude
- Experience with in a Building Society or specialist lending environment
- CeMAP qualification or working towards it
