About the role
Your primary objective will be to develop solid alliances with both customers and co‑workers to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payments, maximising the collection of funds and minimising overdue accounts. As an integral part of our financial team, your multi‑skilled approach will help us maintain high levels of financial control and exceptional customer service.
What you will do Credit Control & Collections- Actively manage a defined ledger, ensuring prompt collection of outstanding balances in line with agreed payment terms and company procedures
- Monitor customer credit limits and balances in line with company risk mitigation controls
- Proactively chase overdue accounts through telephone, email and written correspondence
- Investigate, manage and resolve invoice and payment queries in a timely and professional manner
- Escalate high‑risk or long‑overdue accounts to the Credit Control Manager as appropriate
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with customers to support timely payment and issue resolution
- Liaise with internal stakeholders including Sales, Operations and Finance to resolve disputes and prevent delays in payment
- Deliver a consistently high standard of customer service, including managing sensitive or escalated conversations professionally
- Complete daily credit control administration accurately and on time
- Maintain accurate records of all collection activity and customer communications
- Support team cover during periods of holiday or sickness and contribute flexibly across the credit control function
- Contribute to continuous improvement of credit control processes and ways of working
Ideally you will have previous commercial experience in a finance and/or a customer‑focused role, with regular interaction across a diverse range of stakeholders, demonstrating a strong customer‑centric approach and the ability to build effective working relationships. The following attributes and competencies will provide the foundation for success in this role:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication
- A good knowledge of Microsoft applications, in particular Excel; experience of ERP systems is a bonus
- Strong customer service skills, including handling complex situations with professionalism
- Proven problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Existing knowledge of credit risk principles and debt recovery processes is a big plus
- A credit management or finance‑related qualification (e.g. CICM) is desirable but not essential

- Salary range: £27,000 – £31,000

This role offers the opportunity to develop a strong foundation in credit control and finance, with potential progression into senior credit control, credit management or wider finance roles.
Location requirementsWe prefer candidates based within commuting distance of our Longforgan office, with hybrid working once initial training is complete. We are also open to experienced UK‑based candidates seeking a remote working opportunity.
