My client is one of the largest financial institutions headquartered in Japan, with an established presence across all consumer and corporate banking businesses. Through its subsidiaries and affiliates, they offer a diverse range of financial services, including commercial banking, leasing, securities, credit card, consumer finance and other services.
They are seeking an experienced Trade Finance Specialist to join the team on an initial 6‑month contract with the potential for extension. The role is hybrid, working from the office 2‑3 days a week with the remainder of time working from home. Standard office hours are Monday to Friday with occasional out‑of‑hours requirements in line with business needs.
Purpose of the JobThe role is within the product development & governance team of GTFD, providing support on marketing activities, structuring of new business, and execution of transactions in line with the organisation’s Transaction Banking Strategy and GTFD’s objectives. The role works closely with stakeholders across EMEA, including GTFD sales, GTBD team, and other coverage teams, middle and back office in EMEA related to Trade and Cash initiatives.
It requires trade finance and transaction banking product knowledge, origination & execution skill, and strong communication skills for multiple interfaces within the organisation and externally.
- Contribute to GTFD/GTBD’s Trade and Cash initiatives.
- Implement EMEA product strategy based on client needs, competitive environment, operational & credit risk, technology, compliance, and regulations.
- Assist in credit modelling, developing appropriate models for trade finance products and presenting to internal and external stakeholders.
- Research and develop products for trade finance needs, collaborating with customers to deliver innovation in fintech.
- Assist implementation of products and channels end‑to‑end for EMEA, working with operations, transaction management, and product sales teams to set up SOPs.
- Ensure EMEA product portfolio has a strong profitability and capital focus, assisting the business in appropriate capital allocations.
- Collaborate with frontline sales and specialist teams for commercialization of new and existing trade finance products.
- Manage results against team KPIs.
- Engage key stakeholders and foster teamwork.
- Support the GTFD Sales Team in delivering and executing transactions.
- 5 years or more experience in a trade finance business.
- Working knowledge of trade finance products and their developments.
- Client‑first attitude, commercial drive, and hands‑on working style.
- Passion for innovation, understanding of new technologies, trade‑related IT systems, and project management.
- Knowledge of managing product profitability, margins, capital, and total cost of ownership.
- Understanding of key jurisdictional differences across major trade markets.
- Strong communication skills, promoting trade finance business internally and externally.
