About the Role You will join a collaborative Group Tax team responsible for managing tax compliance, reporting, and planning across a diverse and evolving energy business. The team works closely with finance and senior stakeholders to ensure robust tax processes, strong governance, and timely delivery of all obligations. As a Tax Assistant, you will play a key supporting role, gaining exposure to a wide range of tax areas while developing both your technical and commercial understanding.

We actively support learning and development, including providing opportunities to work towards a relevant professional qualification where appropriate. Responsibilities Day-to-day, heres what your new role would look like:
Assist the tax team with: oTax compliance for Corporation Tax, VAT, employee related taxes. oTax accounting and journals. oTax forecasting for payments and planning. oOther tax compliance including energy taxes, BEPS. oPreparation of documents and presentations for senior management oversight and sign-off. A keen interest in the energy industry and finance. Possess a relevant professional qualification or be supported to work towards one if desired.

About you Key Criteria What Youll Need A degree in a relevant discipline or relevant professional qualification (part qualified considered). Demonstrable working knowledge of key financial concepts, processes, and controls e.g. financial statements, reconciliations, or experience supporting month-end processes or tax / VAT compliance, ideally gained through academic study, placements or relevant finance experience. Strong attention to numerical detail and analytical acumen.

Desirable Criteria - These help decide between those who meet all the above key criteria:
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Working knowledge of accounting / tax software. Proven organisation and time management skills. Desire to complete professional accounting or tax qualifications (if not already obtained).
