HSBC Innovation Banking (HSIB) focuses on providing flexible banking solutions to early‑stage and growth companies in technology and life science sectors. We work closely with founders, private equity, venture capital and other private capital clients to support their growth.
TeamHSBC Innovation Banking’s Strategic Fund Solutions (SFS) team manages relationships with Private Equity, Private Credit and Venture Capital clients, delivering the bank’s products across banking, lending, treasury and foreign exchange.
RoleWe are looking for a specialist fund finance banker with strong relationship management, banking and lending experience to join our London team.
Responsibilities- Develop and manage relationships with a portfolio of sophisticated Private Equity, Private Credit and Venture Capital clients.
- Act as the client’s primary point of contact for all banking and lending needs.
- Support the Debt Finance team with the structuring of fund finance solutions and manage the transaction process, including capital‑call facilities, NAV lines, and Co‑Invest/GP financing solutions.
- Anticipate client needs and address concerns with internal operations and product groups.
- Assist the Head of Coverage in developing and executing a business plan to improve client experience and drive growth.
- Contribute to the acquisition of new clients and strategic account planning initiatives.
- Think creatively and leverage the HSBC platform to develop solutions that go beyond basic banking and lending products.
- Monitor market trends and contribute to product innovation and platform growth.
- Build and maintain an external industry network, acting as an ambassador for SFS at relevant events and conferences.
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to enhance cross‑functional teamwork.
- Identify and drive process improvements to optimise the client experience.
- Drive client advocacy and deliver Net Promoter Score growth.
- Mentor junior colleagues within the Coverage and wider SFS team.
- Strong prior and relevant experience leading client relationships and delivering banking and fund finance lending solutions.
- Excellent understanding of fund structures and the needs of private capital firms at both fund and management company levels.
- Experience in NAV finance, GP finance, or other structured lending (e.g., Leveraged Finance) is preferred.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Passion for building relationships and delivering an exceptional client experience.
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn new skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial and non‑financial risks.
Our home office is located in Finsbury Square, London. We offer hybrid working; employees are expected to be in the office three days per week.
