Job Description:

This is a broad, commercially focused in-house tax role reporting directly to the Group Head of Tax. The successful candidate will work as part of a small tax team alongside another Tax Manager, with responsibilities that can overlap and flex depending on business priorities and workload. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of tax compliance and reporting across a varied portfolio of direct and indirect tax matters for a predominantly UK-based group with operations in Ireland, while working closely with colleagues across Finance, Payroll, Commercial and Operational teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and review statutory financial statement tax provisions and disclosures, and support the external audit process in relation to tax matters. Manage UK and Irish corporation tax compliance and related reporting obligations, ensuring submissions and payments are accurate, compliant and made on time. Support the preparation and delivery of the Group's R&D Expenditure Credit (RDEC) claims, working with external advisers and internal Finance, Commercial and Operational stakeholders as required.

Manage UK and Irish indirect tax compliance, including VAT returns and related filings, and monitor transactional VAT treatment across the business. Manage employment tax and supply chain tax compliance matters, working with HR, Payroll and other internal stakeholders on areas including PAYE, IR35 and CCO. Liaise with HMRC, Revenue and other relevant authorities on compliance matters and manage responses to routine queries and information requests.

Provide practical tax advice and training to internal stakeholders on relevant matters including corporation tax, VAT, CIS and PAYE. Maintain and improve tax processes, controls and documentation to support compliance, governance and audit readiness. Support the use and development of tax technology and automation tools to improve efficiency, accuracy and reporting capability. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, undertake technical research and help ensure the business remains up to date and compliant.

Work collaboratively with the Group Head of Tax, the other Tax Manager and the Tax Assistant to deliver tax compliance, reporting and advisory support across the Group. Support the Group Head of Tax on project work, cross-functional initiatives, strategic planning and ad hoc technical matters as they arise. Requirements Essential Professionally qualified ACA, ACCA or CTA (or equivalent). Strong tax technical grounding, particularly in UK corporation tax and tax accounting.

Experience of owning and managing tax compliance and reporting obligations accurately and to deadline. Experience gained in practice, industry, or a combination of both. Ability to work across a broad range of tax matters in a hands-on in-house role. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across Finance, Payroll, Commercial and Operational teams. Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned areas and manage competing priorities in a collaborative team environment.

Desirable In-house tax experience.

Experience of working with UK and Irish tax matters. Experience in the construction sector. Exposure to VAT, employment taxes and broader tax risk or governance matters. Familiarity with areas such as capital allowances, transfer pricing and Pillar

Competencies Required Strong analytical capability, with the ability to interpret technical issues and apply them in a practical business context. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload in a structured and efficient manner. Good systems aptitude, including an interest in tax technology, process improvement and automation. A proactive and solution-focused approach, with sound judgement and a willingness to see issues through to completion.
