Summary of the Finance Manager role
As the Finance Manager you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of finance and accounting, ensuring robust financial management and control across the Sterling Group. You will provide accurate and timely financial information and analysis to support and influence strategic decision‑making at both site and group level.
As a member of the Site Leadership Team, you will act as a trusted business partner to senior stakeholders while leading and developing the finance team. Your responsibilities will include managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial performance and operational efficiency.
Based at our Cramlington site, this is a hybrid role, offering a combination of site‑based working and home working in line with company policy, ensuring flexibility while maintaining strong collaboration with the wider business.
Your responsibilities- Providing key financial support to our EVP/Site Head, Site Leadership Team and UK Finance Director
- Monthly reporting and forecast presented to site and UK/Group leadership with variances to budget and forecast explained
- Line management responsibilities for finance team
- Provide inputs required for cash and NWC forecasting by product and customer (accrued income, deferred income and inventory)
- Ensure financial data (actual, forecast, budget) is thorough and robust
- Annual budget, delivery of full package to align with executive and board reviews
- Forecasting site capex requirements and associated additions and cash outflow

- Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA Accountant
- Knowledgeable about UK GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Commercial experience of dealing with third parties is desirable
- Ability to support and coach managers during budget setting process and ensuring realistic and meaningful budgets are established
- Comfortable promoting a culture of devolved budgetary control, enhanced financial and commercial awareness, continuous improvement and cost control
- Advanced experience of ERP software systems, finance packages and Microsoft Office applications
