About the Vacancy
The governance, administration and projects (GAP) team sits at the heart of our Actuarial Public practice, working closely with Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) funds and other public sector clients to help them run efficiently, meet regulatory requirements and deliver better outcomes for members. They combine technical pensions knowledge with practical delivery – supporting clients on everything from governance challenges, data improvement, administration transformation and large‑scale projects.
We have an exciting opportunity for a GAP Consultant to join this team and support our clients to meet the technical administration and ‘fit for the future’ governance challenges of the LGPS.
What will your role look like?As a GAP Consultant you’ll collaborate with other specialist consultants in your area, along with Actuarial and Investment colleagues across our wider firm to develop and deliver first‑class advice to our clients, who are predominantly local authorities administering the LGPS but may also be Scheme Employers and Asset Pools.
Key responsibilities- Support LGPS Funds with administration technical issues and advice on best practice administration.
- Advise funds on complex queries and provide governance best‑practice advice, including improving processes and regulatory compliance.
- Lead administration and governance reviews and policy drafting.
- Lead training and coaching of staff internally and for clients.
- Possibly manage line‑level responsibilities, reviewing work of others, managing workflow and reporting on progress against targets and liaising with clients on queries.
- Acquire and maintain a solid understanding of the firm’s products and services.
- Adhere to the firm’s Information Security standards, policies and procedures.
- Deliver client work to budget and to a high professional standard, ensuring all correct processes are followed.
- Strong understanding of the LGPS administration technical requirements.
- Experience working in an LGPS fund or providing consultancy advice to LGPS funds.
- Drive to provide excellent service to clients and stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills with proven ability to effectively plan and prioritise work.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, including as a leader.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Proven and effective communication skills.
- Ability to work in partnership with others to establish needs.
- Enthusiasm for keeping up to date with developments in the pensions industry.
