Automotive Compliance plays a critical role in ensuring organisations operate responsibly within a highly regulated financial and consumer environment. It encompasses adherence to regulatory frameworks such as FCA requirements for consumer credit, ensuring customers receive clear, fair and transparent information throughout the vehicle purchase and finance journey.
Please note – you must have previous experience in onboarding, risk and compliance, financial crime or general due diligence within financial services – experience in automotive regulation is a strong advantage but not essential.
Role OverviewThis is a great opportunity for an experienced Onboarding & Due Diligence Officer to use their industry experience in an influential role, playing a pivotal part in shaping a scalable, compliance‑first onboarding process during a period of accelerated automotive sector growth. The role holder will play a key role in supporting the company’s rapid growth by ensuring every new dealer, partner, supplier, or stakeholder undergoes a rigorous onboarding process anchored in compliance.
Combining financial services due diligence with automotive‑specific regulatory awareness, you will promote a culture of risk management and sustainable compliance across our operations. Our partners are what make our business possible and this role will enable you to create a seamless process, engaging with partners to welcome them into the ACL network.
Key Responsibilities- Manage end-to-end onboarding of new partners and suppliers, ensuring completion of due diligence checks in line with both FCA standards and automotive industry regulations.
- Develop and streamline onboarding processes—documenting procedures, setting timelines, and tracking outcomes through structured frameworks.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships, via telephone, MS Outlook and MS Teams calls.
- Building client files and documentation, reviewing submissions from clients and validating these against regulatory and internal procedures.
- Approving or rejecting applications based on the onboarding policies and procedures.
- Keeping up to date with regulatory changes and requirements.
- Communicating with clients to obtain missing documentation or data.
- Updating and maintaining client records in the company’s database.
- Assisting with internal audits and regulatory inquiries from the FCA and ICO.
- Coordinate and work together with internal teams—including compliance, risk, IT and sales—to support control improvements and address gaps.
- Be the main point of contact for onboarding queries and process management, meeting required SLAs and ensuring stakeholders are updated along the onboarding journey.
- Maintain onboarding documentation, audit files, risk assessments, and system logs in accordance with FCA, Data Protection Act, and other industry requirements.
- Conduct periodic audits and quality assurance reviews of onboarding files, escalating findings and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide support and guidance to internal stakeholders on due diligence standards and updates in financial and non‑financial misconduct.
- Involvement in wider compliance due diligence and monitoring activities and reporting into senior management.
- Providing support and direction to the onboarding dealer partners, ensuring a welcoming client experience into the ACL network.
- You must have previous experience in onboarding, risk and compliance, financial crime or general due diligence within financial services – experience in automotive regulation is a strong advantage but not essential.
- General understanding of onboarding processes for firms in Financial Services.
- Experience of working within Consumer Credit and/or General insurance and/or working within an Appointed Representative network would be an advantage.
- Working knowledge of MS applications and systems such as would be beneficial.
- Strong analytical and risk‑assessment abilities.
- Attention to detail with high accuracy in documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Confident in stakeholder engagement.
- Certifications such as ICA certificate in Governance, Risk & Compliance, ICA Specialist Certificate in AML, or similar would be an advantage.
