Role Description
The Independent Financial Advisor is a full-time, hybrid role based in Glasgow, with the flexibility to work from home for part of the week. The advisor will meet with individual, corporate, and charity clients to assess their financial objectives, evaluate existing arrangements, and develop comprehensive financial plans. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include advising on pensions and DB schemes, retirement planning, investments, and broader wealth strategies, as well as preparing reports, recommendations, and ongoing review documentation.
The role involves regular client reviews, responding to client queries, monitoring market developments, and ensuring that advice remains suitable, compliant, and aligned with regulatory requirements. The advisor will collaborate with colleagues across finance and stockbroking functions to deliver integrated, high‑quality solutions while maintaining strong, long‑term client relationships.

- Candidates should possess strong skills in financial planning and financial advisory, with experience providing independent, client‑focused advice.
- Candidates should possess solid finance and investments skills, including portfolio construction, risk assessment, and an understanding of market instruments.
- Candidates should possess expertise in retirement planning and pensions, ideally including DB scheme knowledge and regulatory awareness.
- Candidates should possess excellent communication and relationship‑management skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and build trust.
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning or equivalent) and authorization to provide regulated advice in the UK are highly beneficial.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to ethical, compliant practice are essential.
- Comfort with hybrid working arrangements, effective time management, and proficiency with financial planning software and standard office tools are advantageous.
- Candidates must hold a valid SPS.
- Candidates should be able to demonstrate past experience working as an IFA in the UK.
