Location: Luton (Hybrid – 2 days working from home)
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Group Tax Manager to join a UK-listed organisation on an initial 6-month contract. This is a senior-level position within the Group Tax function, responsible for supporting the delivery of corporate and international tax strategy while ensuring compliance across a complex, multi-jurisdictional environment.
You will act as a trusted advisor to senior finance stakeholders, helping to shape strategic decisions, manage tax risk, and optimise the Group's overall tax position while maintaining robust governance and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Support the development and implementation of the Group's tax strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Lead international tax planning initiatives, including cross-border transactions, financing arrangements, and corporate structuring.
- Provide commercially focused tax advice to senior finance and business stakeholders.
- Oversee Group-wide corporation tax compliance, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
- Manage international tax obligations and coordinate with external advisors across multiple jurisdictions.
- Lead responses to HMRC enquiries, tax audits, and overseas tax authority investigations.
- Monitor global tax developments, including OECD BEPS and Pillar Two legislation, assessing their impact on the business.
- Lead Group tax reporting under IFRS, including current and deferred tax provisions.
- Support the financial close process, tax forecasting, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Maintain and enhance tax governance, risk management, and control frameworks.
- Support Board and Audit Committee reporting on tax-related matters.
- Manage and develop a direct report.
- Drive continuous improvement through process enhancements, systems development, and tax transformation initiatives.
- Strong technical expertise in UK corporate tax, international tax, and IFRS (IAS 12).
- Experience working within a UK-listed company or large multinational organisation.
- Proven track record in tax compliance, reporting, governance, and risk management.
- Experience dealing with HMRC, external auditors, and international tax authorities.
- Strong understanding of international tax developments, including BEPS and Pillar Two.
- Ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders on complex tax matters.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
