Salary: £28,000 to £33,000 per year, pro‑rata if part‑time

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 25 hours per week (part‑time, flexible start/finish times)

Your new company Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering exclusively with a leading charity within the care sector to recruit a dynamic & hands‑on part‑time Finance/Income Officer to join their close‑knit accounting team based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this part‑time role will play a vital member of the finance team responsible for ensuring the integrity of sales ledger, accurate billing, along with income collection.

Offering 25 hours per week on a permanent basis with flexible start/finish times. Remote/office hybrid working can be offered once settled in. Although the role is part‑time, the organisation will also consider full‑time applicants as additional duties can be added to the position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce monthly sales invoices and credit notes, including billing purchases.
  • Ensure all billing information and fee structures are accurate within the system.
  • Process and reconcile monthly direct debit collections, and submit new bank mandates.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for invoicing queries, liaising with external and internal departments to resolve any issues.
  • Monitor overdue accounts, conduct regular credit control via phone, email and other means; keep the Head of Finance updated on any complex aged debt issues.
  • Post and reconcile bank entries relating to income; support month‑end journal entries; provide debtor/revenue analysis for cash‑flow reporting; give general support to the wider finance team when required.
  • Collaborate with the wider finance team to improve processes and provide analysis to aid decision‑making.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience in credit control and sales ledger processes.
  • Experience with a range of financial systems; knowledge of Xero is advantageous.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to adapt to organisational needs, willingness to learn and proactive approach to resolving queries and discrepancies.
  • Experience with in healthcare, social care or service‑led environments is an advantage.
  • Can manage workloads to meet deadlines; a team player who can also use initiative.
