Asset Investment Senior Engineer

As an Asset Investment Senior Engineer, you’ll play a central role in shaping asset strategies that influence hundreds of millions of pounds of investment, helping ensure our network remains safe, resilient and ready for the future.

This is a highly visible role with direct exposure to senior leaders and collaboration across Engineering, Network Operations, Energy System Operations, Capital Delivery, Finance and Operational Performance. You’ll influence strategic decisions, build alignment across stakeholders and help shape the future direction of asset management within Cadent.

• Drive Strategic Investment – Develop asset investment strategies that influence major business decisions and long‑term network performance.
• Lead Transformation – Help build next‑generation asset management and investment modelling capabilities that will redefine how Cadent plans and prioritises investment.
• Shape the Energy Future – Support investment strategies for emerging challenges and opportunities, including growth in biomethane and data‑centre connection demands.
• Complex&High Impact Work – Lead civil asset investment strategies within one of Cadent’s most strategically important and technically challenging asset groups.
• Influence Senior Stakeholders – Work directly with leaders across the business to shape decisions that balance cost, risk and performance.

We’re looking for a strategic thinker who can combine analysis, stakeholder engagement and decision‑making to solve complex investment challenges.

• Asset Management, Investment Planning, Risk Modelling or Infrastructure Strategy experience.
• Ability to evaluate cost, risk and performance trade‑offs within complex asset‑based organisations.
• Experience with IFS Copperleaf Asset Investment Planning & Management tool or similar AIPM software.
• Influencing stakeholders across multiple disciplines and organisational levels.
• Communicating complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
• Experience in utilities, infrastructure, engineering assets, asset data management or regulated industries is advantageous but not essential.

• Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Incorporated Engineer or equivalent professional qualification (desirable).
• Institute of Asset Managers qualifications (desirable).
