Join our Power T&D team as a Finance Manager on the ASTI project in Elgin and open up new pathways you never dreamt possible.
Responsible for overseeing all financial activities, reporting, managing budgets, and other financial controls. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, providing financial planning, analysis of project costs, cash flow management, coordinating audits, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company’s growth and profitability as well as other non‑financial critical information.
You will be an integral part of the project management team and will be a key interface with the following stakeholders:
Senior ASTI project management team, internal business partners, other Project Finance Managers, Newcastle, BB Internal & External Auditors. Expectation is that you could be based at our nearest office/site, however, travel should be expected. Attendance will also be required for various business meetings across the business as deemed appropriate.
- Develop and manage budgets for ASTI projects, ensuring accurate cost estimations and tracking expenditures against approved budgets.
- Implement cost control measures to optimise project expenses without compromising quality, constantly seeking opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, providing insights into project performance, cost trends, KPIs and overall financial health.
- Manage period‑end reporting cycles.
- Ensure compliance with Gated Business Lifecycle.
- Monitor cash flow and liquidity, ensuring timely payments to vendors, subcontractors and other stakeholders to maintain smooth project operations.
- Conduct financial forecasting and analysis to support decision‑making, project future financial trends and assess potential impacts on the business.
- Expect a good level of commercial understanding; experience of NEC option C and E contracts would be advantageous.
- Collaborate with Project Teams: work closely with project managers, engineers, commercial and other stakeholders to align financial goals with project objectives, providing financial guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ledger management including reconciliations, journals and validation of revenue and profit reported.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, tax regulations and other financial standards.
- Assist in capital planning and investment decisions, evaluating the financial feasibility of tenders, net debt and ad‑hoc initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the finance department, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Perform ad‑hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed, addressing specific inquiries from senior management or stakeholders and contributing to informed decision‑making.
- Experience operating at a similar level as part of a project team is required.
- Qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA etc.) essential.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen.
