Fulcrum Lens is a student-led research publication specialising in corporate restructuring, liability management and distressed debt. The team produces concise, technical case studies and outlooks on real-world situations. All content is written and peer-reviewed in-house by students, offering a rigorous and academically grounded perspective. Fulcrum Lens is free to access and focuses on the critical moment when a capital structure breaks, a niche rarely covered in mainstream finance publications.

The organisation provides students with an opportunity to develop technical restructuring and distressed credit skills through practical research.

About the Role

As an Analyst, you will contribute to restructuring and distressed credit research by analysing live situations, evaluating capital structures and producing technical research publications.

No prior restructuring experience is required. We are looking for students with strong analytical ability, curiosity and a willingness to learn.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Analyse debt documentation for covenant flexibility, baskets and liability management optionality
  • Model capital structures to assess valuation, recoveries and downside scenarios
  • Assess stakeholder incentives and evaluate potential restructuring or refinancing outcomes
  • Monitor live situations and update research as new information emerges
  • Build liquidity, maturity and capital structure analyses from public filings

What we are looking for:

  • Genuine interest in restructuring, distressed credit or investment banking
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and ability to manage deadlines
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn
  • Proficiency in Excel and Power Point

What you'll gain:

  • Hands-on experience analysing live restructuring situations
  • Technical exposure to covenant analysis, valuation, recovery modelling and capital structure analysis
  • Structured mentorship and training
  • Opportunity to collaborate with students interested in restructuring and distressed investing

Applications are rolling, with a target date of August 21st to close and finalise analyst cohort.

This is a student organisation role lasting one academic term, not a full-time paid position. We welcome applications from students at universities across Europe and North America and are open to applicants from all year groups. The role is fully remote, with communication taking place online. Depending on location, there may also be opportunities to attend occasional in-person events or meetings.
