Senior Finance Analyst - Housing & Resident Services
Location: Brent, London
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days in the office, 2 days from home

Brent Council is seeking an experienced Senior Finance Analyst to join the Finance team, supporting the Housing General Fund and Resident Services Directorate
.
You will provide senior financial advice and business partnering support across key services including Temporary Accommodation, Supported Exempt Accommodation, Housing and Resident Services
, helping senior managers understand financial performance, manage budgets and respond to increasing demand and cost pressures.
- Manage and monitor large and complex revenue and capital budgets.
- Provide financial advice, analysis and challenge to senior managers and Directors.
- Lead on budget setting, forecasting, monthly monitoring and year-end processes.
- Analyse financial pressures, demand trends, risks and opportunities, particularly across Temporary Accommodation and Housing.
- Develop savings proposals, business cases and financial models to support decision-making.
- Support the Council's Medium-Term Financial Strategy and value-for-money initiatives.
- Prepare financial reports, statutory returns and financial implications for committee and Cabinet reports.
- Maintain effective financial controls and support audit requirements.
- Provide financial and commercial advice on contracts, procurement and commissioning activity.
- Present complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Lead and support junior finance staff, including mentoring and professional development.
The successful candidate will be a fully qualified CCAB accountant with significant experience in a large and complex organisation.
You will have:
- Strong Local Authority or public sector finance experience.
- Experience managing large and complex budgets.
- Strong budget monitoring, forecasting and financial planning skills.
- Experience providing senior-level financial business partnering and advice.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with statutory accounts, financial reporting and audit.
- Experience of commercial, contract or procurement finance.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
3 days per week in the office and 2 days working from home - non-negotiable.
