Axra operates in one of the most regulated spaces in fintech — cross-border money transfers, FX, and multi-currency accounts. Our compliance function isn’t an afterthought; it is core to how we build trust with regulators, partners, and the millions of users who depend on us.

This role sits at the intersection of financial regulation and product. You will own our day-to-day compliance operations in the UK and work closely with product and engineering to ensure what we build meets the standards we have committed to. London-based preferred; this is not a fully remote role due to the regulatory nature of the work.

• Own AML, KYC, and sanctions compliance operations — monitoring, reporting, and escalation
• Manage regulatory relationships and coordinate submissions, audits, and change notifications
• Review and update our compliance policies and procedures as regulation evolves
• Work with product and engineering to embed compliance requirements into product design
• Lead suspicious activity reporting (SARs) and related regulatory reporting
• Train the broader team on compliance obligations relevant to their roles
• Monitor regulatory developments in the UK, EU, and key African markets

• 3+ years of compliance experience in a regulated UK financial services firm — ideally payments, remittance, or e-money
• Working knowledge of the UK regulatory framework and Money Laundering Regulations
• Comfort operating autonomously — you will own this function
• A clear communicator who can translate regulation into actionable product requirements
• ICA, ACAMS, or equivalent qualification is a strong plus

• Experience with African financial regulators
• Prior experience at a cross-border payments or remittance company
• Background in building compliance programmes from scratch or through significant growth
