About the Role
Our client, a leader in the insurance sector, is seeking a highly analytical and motivated Remote Actuarial Analyst to join their actuarial team. This role is instrumental in analyzing financial risks, pricing insurance products, and ensuring the financial soundness of our offerings. You will work closely with senior actuaries and data scientists to develop models, conduct financial projections, and provide insights that drive strategic decision-making.
This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa, supporting our commitment to a flexible and productive workforce.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and validation of actuarial models for pricing, reserving, and financial forecasting.
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, assess risks, and support pricing decisions for various insurance products.
- Prepare reports and presentations on actuarial findings, assumptions, and recommendations for management and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including underwriting, product development, and finance, to provide actuarial expertise.
- Conduct peer reviews of actuarial work performed by colleagues, ensuring accuracy and compliance with professional standards.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in actuarial science and modeling techniques.
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Progress towards actuarial examinations (e.g., Actuarial Society of South Africa exams) is essential.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in statistical software, programming languages (e.g., R, Python), and data manipulation tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
