About the Role

Our client, a vital non-profit organization serving the Gauteng region, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Finance Officer to manage its financial operations. This role is essential for ensuring the fiscal health and accountability of the organization, supporting its mission to serve the community in areas like Soweto . You will be responsible for maintaining financial records, processing transactions, preparing financial reports, and assisting with budgeting and auditing processes.

The ideal candidate has a strong accounting background and a commitment to supporting the non-profit sector. This position offers a great opportunity to contribute to the financial stability of critical community services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Process invoices, expense reports, and other financial transactions in a timely manner.
  • Prepare regular financial statements, management reports, and budget variance analyses.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and year-end financial audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting standards for charities.
  • Manage bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
  • Support program managers with financial queries and budget monitoring.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Finance Officer or in a similar accounting role, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Quick Books) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with the financial landscape relevant to charities in Gauteng .
