Description The role
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Manager or Director to help lead our Trusts team across London and the South and become part of the leadership of the Private Client Group which provides a wide range of services to businesses and their ultimate owners. Trust services at Saffery include trust accounts & tax compliance, complex tax advice, and the provision of fiduciary services to both UK and international trustees.
We can offer varied and interesting work within the group, working with one of the largest and most complex portfolios of trust clients in the UK market.
The role can be based in any of our offices across London and the South and will work within our market-leading Private Client Group, which provides a wide range of strategic advisory, tax, and accounting services to private clients and their businesses. The successful candidate will be expected to work cross-office and to help in the leadership of the Private Client Group.
The responsibilities
Oversee a varied portfolio of UK and international trusts, estates, and associated high net worth individuals, ensuring accurate and timely client deliverables. Lead on the provision of advice to trustees, beneficiaries, and family offices on complex tax matters including trust structuring & restructuring, and operational tax matters. Provide ad hoc technical support to other colleagues on trust projects.
Oversee the preparation of trust accounts, including undertaking technical reviews for complex cases.
Help to maintain & enhance the firm’s strong professional relationships amongst other intermediaries and professional bodies, taking a technical lead with external bodies (including HMRC) and representing the firm at industry conferences and similar events.
Mentor junior team members, reviewing their work and contributing to internal training on trust taxation and private client updates.
The team
The Private Client Group advises individuals and their associated entities. A significant proportion of the group’s work is centered on both large landed estates and significant international holding structures. The overall aim of the role is to provide outstanding client service in a professional and efficient manner, tailored to give the client the benefit of exceptional advice and maximum added value.
You The successful applicant will be experienced, enthusiastic and technically capable, with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. The position will require a high level of teamwork and commitment, with the ability to manage deadlines and run multiple projects concurrently. Candidates should be self-motivated, display a positive approach and can get things done. In addition, they should possess the confidence and professionalism to establish credibility at all levels, be commercially minded and have a clear perception of client requirements.
Candidates should be ACA/ACCA qualified, as well as having significant tax experience, which may or may not be formally accredited. Being dual-qualified (either CTA and/or TEP) will be an advantage. The successful candidate will possess a wide range of financial and tax advisory experience, including involvement in related personal tax work. The candidate will need to have experience in managing a demanding portfolio with a range of clients, reporting to multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
The firm will provide training and support to help develop the successful candidate’s specialist knowledge and capabilities.
