Our client is a leading engineering company and due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join the Finance team.
This is a varied role offering exposure to credit control, month-end activities and payroll support within a collaborative, flexible and truly supportive environment.
Working closely with the Finance team, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring customer accounts are maintained accurately and cash is collected effectively.
The role is full time 8.30-5 Monday to Friday with hybrid working (2-3 days working from home) after training and excellent benefits including a tax free bonus of around £1500 per year, 25 days holiday and private medical insurance.
Key duties will include:
Sales Ledger & Credit Control
- Managing a portfolio of customer accounts
- Chasing outstanding debt and improving cash collection performance
- Issuing statements and monitoring overdue balances
- Allocating incoming payments and reconciling customer accounts
- Investigating and resolving account discrepancies
- Conducting credit checks and setting up new customer accounts
Finance & Month-End Support
- Supporting month-end procedures and reconciliations
- Ensuring finance records are accurate and up to date
- Reconciling sales information with regional teams
- Assisting with bank reconciliations
Payroll Support
- Assisting with payroll administration, expenses and pension processing
- Supporting payroll deadlines and maintaining accurate records
- Processing payroll-related updates in line with company procedures
Skills/Experience
- Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or Credit Control role
- Strong credit control and debt collection experience
- Sage 200 experience and good Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with customers and colleagues
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- A flexible and team-focused approach
