Remote Compliance Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly diligent and knowledgeable Compliance Officer to join their fully remote legal and compliance department. This role is critical for ensuring adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies governing the financial services industry. You will develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs, conduct risk assessments, and provide guidance to staff on regulatory requirements. • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies and procedures across all business units.
• Conduct regular internal audits and risk assessments to identify potential compliance breaches and areas for improvement.
• Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations and ensure timely updates to internal controls and processes.
• Provide training and guidance to employees on compliance matters, fostering a culture of ethical conduct and regulatory adherence.
• Investigate and resolve compliance-related issues, reporting findings and recommendations to senior management.

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A relevant professional certification (e.g., CCEP, CRCM) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles within the banking or financial services sector.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant financial regulations (e.g., POPIA, FICA, AML/KYC).
• Proven ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to business operations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously in a remote setting.
