Tax Accountant At a Glance Full Time, Permanent Hybrid, Belfast Salary: DOE About the Company Our client is a large, long-established FMCG and food manufacturing business, and one of the biggest names in its sector. With a strong, well-recognised market position across UK, Irish and international markets, the business is growing both organically and through acquisition, backed by sustained investment in production and systems in recent years.

It is a genuinely stable, well-run organisation with a collaborative finance function and a clear focus on continuous improvement.

The Role This is a broad, senior-level Tax Accountant role reporting directly to the Director of Group Finance. You will own the group's tax environment end to end, spanning compliance, reporting and cross-border activity, and will work closely with colleagues across the business to deliver high quality tax and financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders. It is a genuinely varied remit for someone who wants real ownership of tax rather than a narrow compliance seat, with direct exposure to group reorganisation, transfer pricing and M&A activity alongside a live systems transformation project.

Key Responsibilities Lead all group tax activities, including corporation tax, VAT, PAYE and customs Play a central role in intergroup accounting, including M&A activity, cross-border transactions and transfer pricing documentation Support statutory accounts preparation and compliance submissions Complete balance sheet reconciliations and financial analysis Provide commercial and operational business partnering as required Support annual budgeting and forecasting Drive continuous improvement across systems and controls, linked to the group's wider digital transformation programme What You'll Need Essential:
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) 3-5 years' experience in a similar role Strong tax and statutory reporting knowledge, including corporation tax, PAYE, VAT and customs, along with relevant reliefs and allowances Cross-border trading tax experience Compliance workstream experience, including HMRC reporting Group reorganisation and corporate simplification experience Advanced financial modelling and Excel skills Why Apply Genuine end-to-end ownership of a group tax function, rather than a narrow compliance role Exposure to M&A, cross-border transactions and group reorganisation activity that's rare at this level Direct line into the Director of Group Finance, with strong visibility across the senior leadership team A stable, well-established business investing heavily in its systems and people Hybrid working and a strong overall benefits package For more information on this role, or any other Accountancy and Finance position, please contact Gemma Murphy.
