Hays are recruiting on behalf of a well-established public sector organisation based in Belfast. Due to ongoing organisational requirements, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Finance Officer to join the team on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional seeking flexible working arrangements within a collaborative and purpose-driven environment.
Your new roleYou will provide vital support across a range of finance and administrative functions, helping to ensure the effective operation of financial systems, controls and reporting processes.
Key responsibilities will include- Supporting the finance function in accordance with established financial procedures and controls.
- Processing ad hoc payments and financial transactions.
- Assisting with month-end processes, including journal postings and preparation of management accounting information.
- Reconciling general ledger accounts and preparing financial reports and analysis as required.
- Supporting the preparation of year-end accounts, reconciliations and associated financial documentation.
- Assisting with procurement administration, maintaining records and supporting tendering activities.
- Providing information and supporting documentation for internal and external audit requirements.
- Accounting Technician Qualification is preferred.
- Experience preparing and maintaining nominal ledgers, including journal processing.
- Experience completing complex reconciliations and contributing to month-end reporting processes.
- Experience using a financial accounting system (Account NI desirable)
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Competitive salary equivalent to £33,542 - £34,231 (pro rata).
- Part-time working arrangements of 14.8 hours per week across two days.
- Hybrid working model with a combination of office-based and remote working.

- Temporary contract until May 2027
