Purpose

GOAL is seeking a proactive

Finance Business Partner – Funding, Programmes & Cost Recovery to strengthen financial sustainability across the organisation.

The role is primarily focused on business partnering and cost recovery, with an FP&A element covering planning, forecasting, reporting and financial analysis. Working across Finance, Programmes, Fundraising and Operations, the successful candidate will be a strong self-starter with excellent analytical, systems and stakeholder-management skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support GOAL’s organisation-widecost recovery approach, including cost allocation, direct and indirect costs, and restricted and unrestricted funding.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to assess the financial viability and sustainability of funding opportunities and support informed funding decisions.
  • Monitor programme and funding performance, identifying cost recovery gaps, financial risks, trends and opportunities.
  • Provide financial modelling, scenario analysis, budgeting, forecasting and management information to support decision-making.
  • Retrieve, reconcile and analyse complex financial and operational data across multiple systems.
  • Develop clear dashboards and reporting using advanced Excel, BI/reporting tools and other relevant systems.
  • Translate complex financial information into practical insight for finance and non-finance stakeholders, including input to donor discussions on budgets and cost recovery.
  • Constructively challenge assumptions and proposals where appropriate, and work collaboratively across teams to improve financial processes and support sustainable outcomes.
Essential
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Relevant experience in FP&A, finance business partnering or funding finance within a complex organisation.
  • Strong financial analysis and modelling skills, including advanced Excel.
  • Strong IT, systems and data capability, including experience with BI/reporting tools and multiple data sources.
  • Ability to work independently, investigate complex issues and solve problems using initiative and sound judgement.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, with the confidence to constructively challenge where required.
  • Strong understanding of restricted funding, donor compliance and programme finance, with the ability to work effectively across finance and non-finance teams.
Desirable
  • Experience in the international development, humanitarian or non-profit sectoris highly desirable given the specialist nature of the role.
  • Experience of cost recovery, indirect cost modelling or donor negotiations.
  • Experience with programming, querying, automation or other analytical tools, or familiarity with recognised cost recovery approaches such as Bond/Mango, NICRA or NPAC.
