An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a suitably experienced and motivated Assistant Management Accountant to join our successful team within the finance function at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
This post is a permanent post, reporting to and supporting the Senior Management Accountant.
It will be based on site for the majority of the week with the potential for a portion of the week to be worked away from the office.
Main duties of the jobThe successful applicant will work across two smaller teams of 4/5 people, supporting the financial management and business advice service to Clinical Care Group encompassing:
- Budgetary control
- Financial advice and support
- Monthly reporting
We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilitiesYou will have excellent numerical and analytical skills and possess the ability to work autonomously, achieve deadlines and prioritise your workload. A knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Excel and an understanding of general ledger accounting software would be an advantage.

- Motivated
- Driving posts must you have a valid Full UK driving licence
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs / O Levels (A*
- C) including Maths and English, or relevant experience. Demonstrates a track record of academic achievement or has experience of working within a finance function. - Experience of working within a NHS finance function.
- Studying towards a professional accountancy qualification
- The ability to provide and receive complex financial information to/from financial and non-financial staff orally, in writing or electronically in a professional manner.
- Good computer skills with experience of the Microsoft Office particularly Excel and Word.
- Ability to work to all routine and ad hoc deadlines.
- Ability to identify and act to remedy circumstances that mean a deadline is at risk.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have good analytical skills
- Possesses basic organisational skills
- Has an appreciation of the NHS finance regime.
- The ability to input into and interrogate the Finance General Ledger to obtain standard and ad hoc reports.
- Experience of working within a finance role
- Experience of working within NHS finance
