About the Role

Our client is seeking a sharp and analytical Energy Trader specializing in Commodities to join their dynamic team in Randburg , Gauteng . This role is central to managing and executing trading strategies in volatile energy markets, including oil, gas, and power. You will be responsible for identifying trading opportunities, managing risk exposure, and optimizing profitability. This is a high-impact position for a motivated individual with a strong understanding of market dynamics and a proven ability to make sound financial decisions under pressure, working within a collaborative trading floor environment in Randburg .

• Execute trading strategies for energy commodities (e.g., crude oil, natural gas, electricity) in domestic and international markets.
• Monitor market trends, news, and economic indicators to identify profitable trading opportunities and potential risks.
• Manage portfolio risk, ensuring positions are hedged appropriately and within defined risk parameters.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key market participants, brokers, and counter parties.
• Analyze market data and performance metrics to refine trading strategies and improve profitability.
• Collaborate with risk management, compliance, and operations teams to ensure smooth trade execution and adherence to regulations.

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy commodity trading, with a strong understanding of physical and financial markets.
• Proven track record of successful trading performance and risk management.
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Deep understanding of market microstructure, derivatives, and trading platforms.
