Our client is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Energy Trader to join their dynamic commodities trading desk based in the Paarl region, operating within a fully remote capacity. This critical role involves executing trades for various energy commodities, managing risk exposure, and identifying profitable trading opportunities in volatile markets. You will be responsible for developing and implementing trading strategies, monitoring market trends, and ensuring compliance with trading regulations.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment, leverage sophisticated trading tools, and make a substantial impact on the company's financial performance within the global energy markets.
- Execute trades for crude oil, natural gas, power, and other energy commodities.
- Develop and implement short-term and long-term trading strategies.
- Monitor market news, economic indicators, and geopolitical events impacting energy prices.
- Manage and mitigate trading risk exposure through hedging and other strategies.
- Analyze market data and identify arbitrage and profit-generating opportunities.
- Maintain strong relationships with brokers, counter parties, and internal risk management teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- 3-5 years of experience in energy trading or a related financial markets role.
- Proven track record of successful trading in volatile commodity markets.
- Strong understanding of market dynamics, financial instruments, and risk management principles.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and trading platforms.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.
