Role Description This is a contract, hybrid role for a Financial Advisor based at Stepp Consult – Omnia Branch in South Africa, with flexibility for some work-from-home days. The Financial Advisor will meet with clients to assess their financial goals, risk profiles, and protection needs, and will design tailored financial and insurance plans that align with Stepp’s ethical advisory standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing advice on investments, retirement planning, life and disability cover, and business risk solutions, as well as preparing proposals, reviewing existing portfolios, and assisting clients with policy updates and claims-related queries.
The role involves generating new business through referrals and networking, maintaining accurate records and compliance documentation, and collaborating with the broader Stepp network to stay informed about products, regulations, and market developments. Advisors are expected to deliver consistent, professional client service and contribute to building long-term relationships within the community.
Qualifications
- Strong foundational skills in Financial Planning and Financial Advisory, with the ability to analyze client needs and develop suitable solutions.
- Solid knowledge of Finance and Investments, including risk profiling, portfolio construction, and basic tax considerations.
- Experience or competency in Retirement Planning, with the ability to advise on pre- and post-retirement strategies and products.
- Relevant regulatory accreditation and licenses to practice as a Financial Advisor in South Africa (e.g., compliance with FAIS requirements).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client relationship management skills, with a high level of integrity and ethical judgment.
- Proficiency in using digital tools and CRM systems for client management, documentation, and reporting.
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment, manage time effectively, and meet agreed performance and compliance targets.
- Prior experience in insurance or financial services, and fluency in multiple South African languages, are advantageous.
