As an Economist, you’ll play an important role in helping shape how government estates are developed, managed and invested in. Your work will help decision makers understand the costs, benefits, risks and opportunities behind major programmes and investment decisions.

This isn’t just about producing analysis and reports. You’ll work alongside project, estates, finance, policy and programme professionals, turning economic evidence into clear advice and practical recommendations that can make a real difference.

You’ll use your economic knowledge to help teams make confident, evidence-based decisions.

Your role will include:

• Providing high-quality economic advice to support estates strategy, investment and programme decisions.
• Developing and reviewing business cases, economic appraisals and evaluations
  .
• Using data, research and economic evidence to explore different options and understand their potential impact.
• Assessing costs, benefits, risks and value for money to help identify the best way forward.
• Turning complex analysis into clear, concise briefings and recommendations that senior decision makers can easily understand.
• Keeping up to date with economic developments across Northern Ireland, the UK and internationally
  , and considering what they mean for investment and estates.
• Working closely with colleagues across construction, property, estates, finance, policy and programme delivery
  .
• Challenging assumptions constructively and making sure decisions are supported by robust evidence.
• Communicating uncertainty, risks and trade-offs clearly so stakeholders can make informed choices.
• Supporting the evaluation of projects and programmes and identifying lessons that can improve future decisions.
• Contributing to the continued development of the economic and analytical function.

We’re looking for someone who combines strong economic thinking with commercial awareness, curiosity and excellent communication skills
.

You’ll bring:

• A minimum 2:2 degree with Economics as a major component
  , or a relevant/equivalent qualification accepted by the selection panel.
• At least 2 years’ post-qualification experience in economic research and analysis, gained within the last 10 years.
