Treasury Operations Settlements - Vice President

Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Treasury Operations Settlements function supporting Mizuho Bank’s UK & European entities, reporting to the Head of Treasury Settlements. The function has 12 members of staff and forms part of the EMEA Markets Operations department.

The function is responsible for the timely settlement FX & Money Market transactions, providing excellent client service for a high volume / value business. The function manages processing to market deadlines / within relevant regulations, supporting the EMEA Treasury Front Offices.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervising the day-to-day responsibilities of the Treasury Operations Settlements team, ensuring the timely settlement of all related treasury products (FX/MM) within required time frames.
• Oversight of all settlements released to market, including system / SWIFT verification of all payments.
• Proactively investigate discrepancies with Agents and follow through to resolution.
• Operate within defined process controls and procedures proactively seeking out any risks, escalating and providing ideas to remediate.
• Actively involved in the management of staff, supporting career progression / development plans and setting performance expectations, as a platform to deliver a high performing team.
• Develop front-to-back understanding within the team, ensuring staff have clearly defined responsibilities and fully understand the risks associated to their process / products / markets, providing training support as required.
• Minimise operational risk in process, identifying weaknesses and establish remediation path for any issues. Ensure any issues are escalated in a timely manner to manager.
• Deliver a high-level of service to our clients, taking a proactive approach to issue resolution and providing timely response to any queries, ensuring a positive client experience.
• Implement ideas across the function; with an aim to reduce manual processes and improve efficiency.
• Engage in Projects, contributing to the delivery of initiatives, including meetings, testing and business readiness.
• Partner with Front Office to evolve the Treasury Settlement function and support new business initiatives.
• Participate, conduct relevant SOX Testing and audit work (internal and external), taking responsibility for the function’s submissions.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• Experience in managing high-performing teams, supporting and developing direct reports.
• Supported senior front office stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational / time management skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Extensive experience of supporting Operations processing for FX & MM Settlements and knowledge of associated confirmations processes. CLS experience desirable.
• Ability to prioritise, elevate and delegate accordingly to meet demands of department and internal stakeholders.
• Strong communicator, able to represent department in meetings and support presentations with senior audiences
• Ability to remediate and continually enhance team’s processes.
• Understand and knowledge of correct swift formatting for payment instructions and securities instructions.
• Broadridge Metro Suite, Swift Alliance, Murex – System experience all desirable
