Senior Financial Management Accountant

Your new company Hays are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a large public sector organisation for the appointment of a Senior Financial Management Accountant (Band 8A) based in Belfast. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional to join a high-performing finance team, providing strategic financial management support across a complex organisation. Your new role As Senior Financial Management Accountant, you will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive financial management service to designated directorates and supporting the wider financial management of the organisation. Key duties will include:
Producing monthly management accounts, forecasts and financial reports. Providing detailed variance analysis, budgeting support and financial planning advice. Supporting scenario planning and costing of service development. Advising senior management on financial risks, opportunities and policy initiatives. Developing forecasting methodologies and improving financial reporting processes. Building strong relationships with budget holders and senior stakeholders. Overseeing and developing a small finance team, ensuring high-quality outputs and effective performance management.

Contributing to organisational financial strategies, policies and service improvements. Acting as an authorised approver and providing specialist financial guidance across the organisation. What you'll need to succeed To be considered for this role, you will have:
Full membership of a recognised professional accountancy body (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAEW, ICAI or ICAS). A minimum of 3 years' experience providing financial management or financial accounting information and advice to stakeholders. At least 2 years' post-qualification management experience. Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience delivering service improvements and driving efficiencies within finance functions.

The ability to provide clear financial advice to senior leaders and support strategic decision-making. What you'll get in return Band 8A salary of £55,690 - £62,682. 37.5-hour working week.
