Job Description:
Your Impact As Corporate Tax Manager, you will report to the Senior Tax Manager, taking responsibility for corporate tax for the UK legal entity, including preparation of all aspects of the corporate tax compliance cycle and statutory reporting, liaising with finance, commercial and other stakeholders as necessary. This position involves contacts across multiple divisions in the UK and Italy, including the Head Office Corporate Tax team and external advisors.
This is a hybrid role combining both onsite and remote working each week and can be based from either our Edinburgh or Yeovil site.
- Research & Development Expenditure Credit (RDEC) and Patent Box:
Manage preparation of annual claims, including liaising with partners in the business and with external advisors. - Transfer Pricing (TP):
Manage the preparation of the annual TP report and documentation. - Maintain group TP arrangements.
- Corporate Tax Returns:
Manage the preparation of all corporate tax returns including overseas branches, and Permanent Establishments including liaising with our external tax advisors and providing detailed analyses as required. - Corporate Income Tax payments:
Ensure payments are made on a timely basis for all jurisdictions. - Tax Provisions:
Support the preparation of quarterly and annual corporate tax provisions and input into Hyperion Financial Management system. - Statutory Accounts:
Draft tax disclosures and notes for the group’s financial statements. - Audits:
Prepare information to respond to Law 262 internal audit and external audits and to support the Senior Accounting Officer requirements. - Budgeting and Forecasting:
Provide corporate tax input to budgeting and forecasting process and be a contact with relevant stakeholders. - Other Reporting Requirements:
Manage the preparation of information to comply with Pillar Two, Controlled Foreign Companies and Country by Country Reporting requirements. - Tax Authority Liaison:
Prepare and submit requests to tax authorities (e.g., HMRC) and assist with responding to queries from them. - Specialist Tax Advice:
Liaison and support to other departments on technical tax matters including advice at bid stage and partnering with the business on projects and other initiatives as required. - Tax Process Automation:
Improve data collection methods using tax compliance and other software and update the documentation of the Tax Team’s processes.
Professional Qualifications
- Fully qualified CTA, CA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent.
- Demonstrable experience of operating within corporate tax in-house team or within an accounting firm.
- good knowledge of UK tax rules and, ideally, some experience in international taxation.
- Team player with flexible working style and the ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines when required.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with good attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel skills required. Experience with SAP/ERP or equivalent would be advantageous.
- Ability to communicate and influence effectively to partners in the business and various stakeholder groups.
This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
