Position: Quantitative Analyst (Quant)

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Quantitative Analyst (Quant) to join their cutting-edge team, supporting operations from Stellenbosch with a fully remote setup. This role is central to developing sophisticated mathematical models and algorithms used for pricing complex financial derivatives, risk management, and algorithmic trading strategies. You will work closely with traders, portfolio managers, and technology teams to implement and deploy these models in production environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement quantitative models for financial markets.
  • Perform statistical analysis and data mining on large datasets to identify trading patterns and risk factors.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate models into trading platforms and risk systems.
  • Conduct back-testing and validation of models to ensure accuracy and robustness.
  • Analyze and explain complex model outputs to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of the latest research and developments in quantitative finance and machine learning.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the firm's quantitative infrastructure and methodologies.
Requirements
  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Significant professional experience (5+ years) as a Quantitative Analyst in investment banking, hedge funds, or asset management.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python, C++, or R, and proficiency with relevant libraries.
  • Strong understanding of stochastic calculus, time series analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques and their application in finance is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote-first environment.
