Senior Economist

Our client, a leading financial institution in Randburg, Gauteng , is seeking a highly qualified Senior Economist to join their research and strategy department. This role is vital for analyzing economic trends, forecasting macroeconomic indicators, and providing data-driven insights to inform investment strategies and business planning within the Banking & Finance sector. You will conduct in-depth research, publish economic reports, and communicate complex findings to various stakeholders, including senior management and external clients.

• Conduct in-depth economic research and analysis on local, national, and global economic trends.
• Develop and maintain macroeconomic models for forecasting key indicators such as GDP, inflation, and interest rates.
• Prepare regular economic reports, commentary, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
• Advise senior management on economic conditions and their potential impact on the company's operations and investment strategies.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers and analysts to integrate economic insights into investment decisions.
• Represent the company at economic forums, conferences, and industry events in Randburg and beyond.

• Master's or Ph.D. in Economics or a related quantitative field.
• Extensive experience (7+ years) as an economist, preferably within a financial institution or research-focused role.
• Strong expertise in econometrics, statistical analysis, and economic modeling software (e.g., EViews, Stata, R).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex economic concepts clearly.
• Proven ability to conduct independent research and produce high-quality economic publications.
